My Favorite Thing About Living In NYC

Last Thursday was just like any other Thursday. I went to work, posted a Three Things Thursday blog, and at 5 pm, went to get some dinner before my babysitting job started at 7:30 pm. All day long I was thinking about getting soup and salad and decided to walk 2 blocks to Hale and Hearty soup on 81st and Broadway. It had been a pretty crappy day weather-wise, and when I finally got to the store after trudging through the slush, I looked up to see what I thought was a mirage of Alec Baldwin standing in front of me. However, to my shock and initial horror, it was no illusion, but indeed, the real thing, standing there, in front of me, just me and him, listening to him speak with his velvety voice, and then watching him eat his (what I think was) tomato bisque, all the while I am sweating, speechless, and dizzy.

I pride myself in having a sixth sense for immediately knowing whether someone is famous or if I have seen them on TV before. And I understand that if you live in NYC, it is a somewhat common thing to see celebs. Baldwin is definitely one in a long line of 'celebs' that I have spotted since moving here a year and a half ago. However, how many people can say that they saw someone as famous as him--he just starred in a movie with Meryl Streep, he is on a hit TV show, and he is about to HOST the OSCARS. Holy shit. Every time I think about it, my heart skips a little beat.

In case you stumbled upon this blog and don't know anything about me, I am obsessed with Broadway, US Weekly, celebrities, and anything and everything to do with famous people. Therefore, for my own personal need (I admit that this will forever be exciting to me as I'll always be a Cleveland girl at heart) I decided to compile a list of all the famous people I have 'run into' since I started living in the Big Apple--in an US Weekly Celebrity Spotted-style. And, for the record, seeing a celeb at a planned celebrity event or at the stage door of a Broadway show does NOT count.

Melora Hardin on 113th and Broadway on a Sunday walking her dog and hugging a friend goodbye.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck and family, eating next to our table at Mama Mexico, wearing a bright orange shirt, hideous platform sneaker situations, and trying to control her snotty daughter.

Juliana Margulies in the West Village, sitting outside at a cafe with her baby son on her lap, having a conversation with two male friends.

On the streets of Soho--Allie Zarin outside the grand opening of Top Shop; Taylor Momsen looking skeletal with a very cute guy; Nicole from ANTM walking with the crowd.

Paula Devicq walking out of Sephora on the UWS as I was walking in (LOVE Po5).

Bebe Neuwirth at CB2 in Soho when I used to work there. I said goodbye to her when she was walking out, and she looked at me and said 'bye' back. Eeeee!

Trey Songz right in front of me in the check-in line and again later at my gate in the American Airlines wing of LGA. (I had no idea who he was, so I didn't embarrass myself).

Kristen Schaal eating a few tables from me at Yum Yum Bangkok.

Georgia Groome walking right in front of me in Times Square. And I had literally just seen that a movie she was in was on TV two days before.

Seth Rudetsky walking down Columbus Ave. talking on his cell phone. I later e-mailed him to tell him I didn't say hi because he was on the phone, but I was a huge fan. He told me next time to hollaback.

Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris and Tim Gunn filming a scene for The Smurfs Movie in Rockefeller Center.

Isaiah Mustafa (of Old Spice fame) going for a run down 5th avenue.

Mary Louise Parker walking through Times Square with her arm around an unidentified salt and pepper-haired man.

Alex O'Laughlin filming a scene for The Back-Up Plan on Park Ave. in the 60's. (The rainy cab scene to be exact).

Alec Baldwin AGAIN at Mary's Marvelous in East Hamptons.

Star Jones at Nick and Tony's Restaurant in East Hamptons.

Chris Noth walking into Elaine's on 88th and 2nd. And then two girls saying to him, "Are you who we think you are?" Dummies.

Jerry Seinfeld with his toddler son at High Holiday services at Congregation Rodeph Sholom on 83rd and CPW.

JJJJJGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLL filming Premium Rush across from the NatHis museum.

Jon Stewart in the front row at a performance of The Book of Mormon.

Tina Fey filming a scene for 30 Rock outside of Congregation Rodeph Sholom on 83rd and CPW.

Bill Hader talking on the phone walking towards 6th Ave. on 48th Street. (he's tall!)

Paul C. Vogt at a performance of Wonderland.

Wilson Cruz in Times Square.

Ramona Singer sitting with a friend on a bench outside Corrado Bread on 79th and 2nd.

At NYFW in September (which I know doesn't count, but whatev)--Amanda Bynes (almost falling in her 5 inch heels), Hillary Duff, Blake Lively, Jill Zarin, Estelle, Marisa Miller (I have never seen anyone so skinny in my life), Mischa Barton, Michelle Trachtenberg (with the most gorgeous skin I have ever seen).

Oh and I just want to say that, I know this doesn't count, but I used to love Lauren Graham until I saw her awful excuse for a Broadway performance in Guys and Dolls last year, and now I am actually thinking of hating her.
